Jawaad secures prestigious apprenticeship
Jawaad Ali felt like many opportunities had passed him by when he enrolled onto the aspire2work study programme. Jawaad had chosen not to stay on at school, he had no prior experience in motor vehicle maintenance, but thought he may want to work in the motor industry.
On the aspire2work study programme Jawaad started working towards an accredited certificate to in motor vehicle maintenance to give him a firm foundation knowledge about car maintenance and to help develop skills and knowledge that would be attractive to any future employer. He also worked to improve his English and maths during Functional Skills sessions that are embedded within all vocational courses offered by aspire2work.
During the programme all students participate in enrichment activities to develop their employability skills. Jawaad was able to gain interview practice and developed his interview technique. Additionally Jawaad gained experience of the ‘real life working environment’ whilst on work experience with Borgwarner Turbo Systems and the newly opened aspire2work motor vehicle training facility on Young street, Bradford.
At the end of his programme, Jawaad had passed his Level 1 in motor vehicle maintainance and his functional skills. Jawaad’s hard work and determination combined with the continued support of the aspire2work team has led to Jawaad obtaining a prestigious apprenticeship with Bradford Audi dealership ‘Sytner’.
Jawaad said about the aspire2work study programme “It has been a long journey from leaving school to achieve an apprenticeship. My confidence and motivation has grown as a result of the study programme and I would not have achieved this without the help, support and encouragement of Aspire-i. I am delighted with the outcome and am now on track to achiveving my goal”.
