Bradford Employment Hub helps Miloud get job security - literally!
At 36 years old, and having been unemployed for 4 months, Miloud thought that his chance of finding a suitable sustainable job in security was extremely limited. In fact, his confidence had been knocked and he had started to give up hope. Then Miloud was introduced to the Bradford Employment Hub and his life changed for the better.
The Bradford Employment Hub has dedicated Key Workers to help people improve their lives through volunteering, work experience, training and employment.
Miloud’s employment history included working briefly as a Security Supervisor in London. This wasn’t sustainable because it wasn’t financially viable and only lasted one month. Prior to this he had worked in a series of unsatisfactory temporary Warehousing jobs and chef work. He didn’t want to return to warehouse work or chef work, however, he began to feel that it may be his only option.
Miloud signed up with the Bradford Employment Hub, run by aspire-igen, at the beginning of February 2020 and was allocated Steven as a Key Worker, who would work with him on a one to one basis.
Steven supported him in a number of ways to prepare him for employment, including developing his CV around a security role, helping him with his job search and job applications and giving him interview coaching to enhance his employability skill set, build his confidence and address his barriers. With the careers information, advice and guidance that was given, Miloud found himself attending interviews with security firms which ultimately led to him securing a full-time security guard job.
As part of the Bradford Employment Hub programme, participants are supported by their Key Worker for six months when they begin their employment. Steven became Miloud’s advocate, so if Miloud starts to experience any difficulties while in his new job, Steven helps him and his employer to overcome any barriers that may emerge. This helps to ensure sustainability.
During weekly contact with Miloud Steven is pleased to say that Miloud is enjoying the training with his new employer and that the employer is happy with the progress that Miloud has made.
