Winners at Windscreen Services
Frankie joined aspire2work with low confidence having struggled with classroom learning for as long as he could remember.
He was then placed in the aspire2work motor vehicle training centre, Young Street, Bradford to gain Motor Vehicle qualifications as well as improve his maths and English.
Once settled into a work based environment, where he was able to learn at his own pace, he soon came out of his shell and let his personality shine through. Once Frankie has found his feet on the study programme the aspire2work team were able to aide him in finding a work placement with nearby Windscreen Services. After six months of hard work on programme and placement, Frankie obtained his level 1 motor vehicle qualification and level 2 in English.
In addition to the invaluable work experience offered by Windscreen Services, the company also supported him by providing driving lessons to supplement the motor vehicle skills he had achieved. In return for showing his hard work ethic and commitment, Windscreen Services then went on to offer Frankie an apprenticeship with them.
Frankie was the winner of the Most Improved Learner at the 2015 aspire2work Awards at the Carriageworks in Leeds. Frankie was nominated by the aspire2work team due to how much progress he had made since he first joined aspire2work.
Frankie’s employers, Windscreen Services, were also winners on the day as they took home the Employer of the Year award for going above and beyond for Frankie.
Frankie was one of twenty finalists to beat the competition of over 1500 young people who attend the aspire2work study programme each year. Employers, learning providers and the young people put forward their nominations with just twenty learners making it into the four categories of Most Improved Learner, Most Dedicated Learner, High Achiever and Learner of the Year.
