From Syria to Study Programme
Wael started on the aspire2work study programme in Leeds in January 2015. He had just moved to the UK, with his family, from Syria.
In his time on the study programme, Wael has completed a range of qualifications to help him in his future career goals. These have included: English as a Second Language (ESOL) qualifications, Level 1 Award in Administration, Level 1 Functional Skills maths and English. He has recently sat his GCSE maths exam too.
Not only this, but Wael has also successfully undertaken work placements at TC Catering and The Range. This has helped him to gain skills and experience for the work place and he's received positive feedback from placement supervisors.
Wael has been a committed student, determined to succeed in everything he does. His attitude, focus and attendance have been exemplary and he has taken every opportunity available to gain higher qualifications.
“Aspire-igen has really helped me as I came with little English. I have improved my English, gained a lot of qualifications and my confidence has increased. I am really happy and want to thank all the staff at Leeds for helping me.” - WAEL
Wael has now secured a place on the Access Foundation course, to study GCSEs at Leeds City College in September. We wish him good luck for the future!
