The Logistics of Learning
Former study programme learner, Ryan Braithwaite, recently visited the aspire2work training centre in Hull. After passing out into the armed forces Ryan wanted to return to where he had started his journey to thank his tutors.
Ryan has spent the last 49 weeks at the Army Foundation College (AFC), in Harrogate, completing his basic soldier training.
When Ryan joined the aspire2work study programme he was already embarking on the recruitment process and had set his sights on working in the logistics division of the armed forces. Despite having the drive and determination to reach his goal, he identified a number of skills he needed to improve on to achieve his potential.
The aspire2work team were able to give Ryan the guidance and direction he needed to improve his confidence and focus on his qualifications. Ryan achieved both English and maths level 1 before finishing the programme. Since leaving he has also managed to continue learning and has now gained level 2 in both.
“The aspire2work programme helped me build my confidence and helped me to focus before moving away to complete my basic training” – Ryan
Ryan recently took part in the Junior Long Reach competition where he was 4th in his college. The competition is run between young people in the armed forces and the cadets.
Ryan has now achieved his goal and starts with the logistics division of the armed forces this month. He is looking forward to putting his training into practice and seeing more of the world.
