Ellie wins Learner of the Year!
Ellie started on the aspire2work programme in January 2018 after struggling to sustain long term education since leaving school. Even at school Ellie's home life made committing to education difficult.
Against all odds Ellie has shown resilience, not only in training, but in her personal life. Over the course of the programme she has not had one unauthorised absence.
As a result of her hard work, she was offered a further work experience opportunity at Square Chapel in catering events. Ellie completed this and was provided with a fantastic reference from the coordinator of the event. Receiving such brilliant feedback gave Ellie the drive and determination to start applying for some paid employment. The combination of great references from the Orange Box and Square Chapel allowed Ellie to build and produce a CV which reflected her hard work over the duration of her time at aspire2work. She attended several job interviews which, with perseverance, resulted in her being offered a paid job at Edge Play gym.
Whilst on the aspire2work programme, Ellie's confidence has grown significantly and she demonstrates perfectly that with hard work and determination you can achieve your goals.
Ellie always came to training ready to engage with a smile on her face. Her bubbly personality, commitment and enthusiasm convinced her tutors to put her forward for the Learner of the Year Award at the 2018 aspire2work Awards which we’re pleased to say she won. Congratulations Ellie – very well deserved!
