Dream job became a reality
Since the age of 8 Lauren knew she wanted to work with children.
She knew she would need an English and Math qualifications in order to get her dream job in but didn’t get the results she need in her GCSEs.
Lauren never really enjoyed school. Despite achieving Level 3 in Childcare, Law and Public Services she felt that she wasn’t really pushed. At 18, and seven attempts later, she left school without the English and maths qualification she tried so hard to get.
Unsure what to do next, it was by chance she spoke to an aspire2work advisers. She explained about her many attempts to get her English and maths and that she had always wanted to work with children.
Lauren joined the aspire2work childcare provision where she got lots of practical Childcare experience, including a work experience placement in a pre-school nursery. Lauren really enjoyed the programme.
She said “the tutors were very helpful. They gave me the time and support I needed and within two months of joining I finally passed my English and maths qualification…..I couldn’t believe it!!!”
Lauren said “joining aspire2work helped me to get motivated and to get the job I had always wanted”. She is now working at a pre-school nursery with young children. When asked about the future she said ‘I’ve got the job of my dreams thanks to aspire2work. I want to carry on working in my current job. In the future, I would like to start my own childcare business and possibly set up a children’s charity.”
