Bilal’s dedication pays off
Bilal joined the aspire2work programme in October 2017, studying to complete his level 1 in construction as well as Level 1 in maths and Entry Level 2 in English. He has an EHCP and has struggled with confidence and meeting new people.
It immediately became evident that Bilal tries very hard in everything that he does - he followed all instructions and guidance given and always completed tasks without giving up or becoming defeated. Bilal constantly tried to improve his knowledge by asking tutors for extra work to take home which they were keen to support him with, and his confidence grew every week.
One of Bilal’s main reasons for joining the aspire2work programme was to make friends which he was able to achieve and he became a valued and respected member of his peer group.
Bilal’s level of commitment to attendance and participation was very high – he never had a day off and was always on time. His efforts were rewarded when he won Most Dedicated Learner at the 2018 aspire2work Awards.
With the support from the aspire2work team Bilal has been able to overcome many barriers he faced when he first joined. He is now looking to move onto the aspire2work Hospitality & Catering course at The Cookery School and faces a bright future.
