The ultimate aim of the Enabler project is the implementation and development of a new role in Small to Medium sized Enterprises (SMEs) – the enabler, the person that keeps an eye on the competences and acts as a catalyst to makes things happen.
The project as such will develop the training programme needed for this new role in SMEs in the engineering industry and market it in several different ways. The idea is to make the enabler a strong buyer of training material and a competent organiser of employee led SMEs internal training. They will still be dependent on external consultants for more complicated things. The enabler role will be a smaller part of somebody’s workday.
The training programme and the reports will be freely available on the Internet. This means that it will be usable for other educators/trainers wanting to adapt the programme to other sectors. As the training programme builds on a lot of experience about implementing new attitudes and forms for training in SMEs, the programme itself and the discussions coming in the reports will be most usable for anyone interested in this important field. The enabler will have a key function as the distributor of new knowledge in his/her SMEs – a function that is vital at all levels including the top political today.
The development process will take its starting point in theories and experiences about competence need analysis, validation methods, organisation theory, etc. Out of this a number introductory material will be developed.
The partnership is made up of Adult Education and VET organisations and SMEs. The dissemination/transfer/valorisation potential is very strong as the partners have strong links to regional and local organisation of many kinds. There are partners from, Germany, Italy, Romania, Sweden and the UK. The Enabler programme will be translated and localised to the “cultures” of the engineering industry in the partner countries. It is a two year project, but most of the time will be spent on the refinement dialog and dissemination. The partners will continue to develop the enabler programme after the end of the project and also adapt it to other sectors.
