Autumn 2017 sees Euroguidance UK celebrate its 25th Anniversary. This milestone will be marked with a range of activities, both in person and online.
Euroguidance was founded as part of the European Commission's PETRA programme when National Resource Centres for Vocational Guidance were established in each member state towards the end of 1992. The first network meeting was held in Rome and involved partners from the then 12 EU member countries.
Since this meeting, Euroguidance has evolved into a network which spans over 30 countries across Europe. It is now supported through the European Commission's Erasmus+ programme, which offers support for a range of education and training initiatives, including student placements abroad.
From Books to Digital Resources
A core principle of our work as the UK's Euroguidance centre is to act as a hub for resources and support material for careers practitioners on international mobility and training issues. In the early years this saw us produce a range of different guides, pamphlets and reference books - with some of the most popular titles including 'Europe Matters' and the 'European Information Handbook for Young People'.
Since then these resources have evolved to keep pace with technological advancements (remember the internet was only in its infancy in 1992!). First we started producing resources on CD ROM, before moving online. Today we produce a range of information, which is available across our social media, website and blog. However, we have not completely abandoned the old ways either - with many of our resources also available in hard copy at events etc.
