Lone Parent Mentor team have fun on Scarborough Beach Clean
Jeni Golder, who is a Mentor on the Lone Parent project (an Action Towards Inclusion project), based in Scarborough, organised a beach clean with a number of her participants and their children on Saturday 7th July. It was a really hot day and everyone had a brilliant time.
Jeni says "There were 24 people who took part altogether and everyone got involved, even the 19month old twins! Everyone had a fantastic day, the mums and the kids did not know one another before and, as you can see from the photos, we are now a close group.
We are looking at doing it again next month as it was such a success! The best part about this project is being able to bring people together where normally they would be isolated."

Emily completes 10k for Meningitis Now
Emily Porter from the National Careers Service team ran the Race for Life recently. Emily said "I’m delighted to say I completed my 10K on Monday in blistering sunshine in London – and I managed to raise just under £1500 for Meningitis Now. Thank you SO much to all you lovely people who have sponsored me – I really do appreciate every penny."
Well done Emily, you've raised lots of money for an amazing cause.
Scarborough aspire-igen team complete Race for Life despite World Cup clash
The aspire-igen team who took part in the Race for life on the evening of 11th July was made up of Jeni Golder, Rachel Earnshaw and her friend Mary, Julie Hall (who left us at the end of March) and Jeni’s friend Chloe. The event, which clashed with England’s world Cup semi-final match, never-the-less had hundreds of runners together with lots of supporters, some of whom listened to the match and kept those waiting for the triumphant runners to return up to date with the score! The aspire-igen team did really well and managed to beat their time from last year.
This was a brilliant effort and a great charity to support – well done Scarborough aspire-igen team!
