Prevent in the Workplace
01 August, 2018
All staff should already be aware of the Prevent Strategy, which has been designed by the Government to ensure the safety of people and communities from the threat of all types of extremism and radicalisation including terrorism.
Some people may not be aware that we also have a requirement to ensure we protect our students from the risk of radicalisation when they are out on work experience, as all employers have a responsibility to protect workers against all forms of harm. We have developed and produced a 'Prevent Guidance for Employers` document outlining their responsibilities as an employer, and directing them to a free online learning module designed by the Society for Education and Training to specifically support employers.
The Prevent Work Placement guidance document is now in place and can be accessed on the safeguarding folder on the a2w shared drive. If any other colleagues would like access to it or help and advice on how to discuss this and give information to employers please contact Nick Gordon (firstname.lastname@example.org). The `Prevent for Employers` module for the Society for Education and training is accessible on https://www.foundationonline.org.uk/login/index.php - to access the details you will need to create an account.
