Igniting Inspiration takes off from the Bradford Opportunity Centre
24 November, 2017
Aspire-igen was pleased to host it's first major external event - Igniting Inspiration on 23rd November.
Igniting Inspiration is a unique initiative which celebrates women making a positive difference in business and society. It is the brainchild of Inspiring Women Changemakers Founder, businesswoman, Speaker and writer, Anj Handa.
Anj says “Through my wide-reaching networks, I discovered so many positive stories that were going unheard, particularly within minority communities. And while there are numerous campaigns for women in business, there is no one campaign - online or offline - that regularly promotes the dedication of women changemakers.”
That’s why Anj decided to launch Igniting Inspiration. Genuine partnership with values-driven organisations are a key element of the initiative, which is why Anj looked no further than aspire-igen to host the celebration event at it's Opportunity Centre in Bradford.
The historic former Bradford Chamber of Commerce building offers the inspirational and welcoming feel that the event seeks to embody. Officially opened at the start of the year, the new building has already made a huge contribution though its wide-ranging employment, skills and careers programmes, boosting confidence in the city.
Like Anj, CEO Caroline Harrison and Head of Enterprise Jo Hainsworth are passionate about making a social impact and are delighted to partner with her yet again on a model that is full of hope, energy and positivity.
Caroline said “Igniting Inspiration shines a light on some of the amazing women who make a real difference to others in their communities and who often go unnoticed and un-thanked. It has given us the opportunity to celebrate all that they achieve, and in so doing, ensure that their work continues through increased awareness and by inspiring others to follow suit and see how they too can make a real difference.”
Even the event’s headline sponsor is an ethical, women-led business. Harrogate-based CNG Ltd is a commercial gas provider that is passionate about making a difference in communities.
Jacqui Hall, CNG MD, says "We are always seeking to support or shed light on important causes and organisations. These inaugural awards are a wonderful opportunity to develop a new platform for inspiring women and celebrating those already committed to making a change, be that socially or in business. We are honoured to be a part of this and celebrating and hearing the incredible stories of our region's female changemakers."
Inspiring Women Changemakers has published the stories of all nominees across social media, bringing positive stories to the world during a time of much bad news globally. It has now teamed up with the Baroness Warsi Foundation to produce a video which gets into the mindsets of changemakers to teach and inspire others. Copies will be available from 2018.
