First Bradford Manufacturing Week is a success
13 November, 2018
Bradford Manufacturing Week took place from 8-12 October, organised by West & North Yorkshire Chamber and backed by the newly-formed Bradford Economic Partnership. Aspire-igen was delighted to support the initiative and was responsible for making sure that as many schools as possible were actively engaged and that they were able to take up all the opportunities available.
18 Schools signed up to take part in Bradford Manufacturing Week 2018 with 2,637 experience days being assigned to young people across the city. These consisted of:
- Work experience days
- Site tours
- Employer led talks
- BMW Live
- Barclays life skills sessions
Over 92% of schools were either satisfied or very satisfied with Bradford Manufacturing Week wth 89% rating the range of work experience placement as high or very high and 100% rating the site tours and employer talks as high or very high quality.
Feedback from our evaluation included: “Communication and organisations was great”, “Access to employers was great and their willingness to engage was really appreciated” and "Excellent range of opportunities and easily arranged”.
Student feedback was also very positive - “I learnt a lot, I didn’t know (the company) existed before going and realised there is so much that goes on behind the scenes”, “The employers were very friendly, approachable and they explained things well”.
Well done to all involved for making the very first Bradford Manufacturing Week such a success and making so many Bradford students aware of the fabulous opportunies there are in the manufacturing sector in the city.
