13 April, 2017
Caroline Harrison, Chief Executive Officer of the aspire-igen group, has been shortlisted for a Director of the Year Award at the prestigious Yorkshire Business Leaders Awards 2017.
In a year when aspire-igen has gone from strength to strength, the leader of the successful social enterprise will now compete for top honours amongst 42 of the most dynamic heads of the region's businesses at the inaugural dinner at the Royal Armouries in Leeds on 18 May 2017.
Entrants range from chief executives, managing directors and finance directors representing a variety of industry sectors across Yorkshire and the Humber. The awards include all sizes of companies from early-stage businesses to plcs, not-for-profits to private equity backed companies.
Aspire-igen is a social enterprise, working tirelessly across Yorkshire and the Humber to change lives for the better through learning and work. Caroline has been committed to expanding the organisations reach in recent years, to offer the breadth of employability services for all ages to more communities across the region.
Caroline says "It's a great honour to be shortlisted for a Yorkshire Business Leader's Award. This has been an amazing year for aspire-igen with the opening of not one, but two, fabulous new Opportunity Centres in Bradford and Leeds, supporting people of all ages and backgrounds to improve their lives.
In less than three years, we have gone from being a relatively small organisation in Bradford, to being the region's leading provider of employability services and work based training, with 18 centres across Yorkshire & the Humber. Working with the business community, adopting the LEP Skills Plans, we are now able to help tens of thousands of people to access the full range of opportunities that this wonderful county offers every single year.
Our social impact is huge, and in these austere times, it has never been more necessary. Thank you for giving me the chance to showcase our work and further extend our reach.
I'd also like to extend my congratulations to all those nominated, particularly our friend and colleague Stephanie Burras at the Ahead Partnership, with whom we work closely with as an organisation year on year"
