Careers Live 2017 - our best yet!
24 March, 2017
Careers Live, our free bi-annual careers conference, took place on 23rd March at Carriageworks Theatre. It was a completely packed house and lots of people commented that it was the best Careers Live yet!
Caroline Harrison kicked off the event by talking about the range of free CEIAG support available locally. A great speaker line up, including Anita Pyrkotsh-Jones (HMI National Lead for Careers, Ofsted), David Andrews OBE, (a leading national expert on careers education and guidance (CEG) in schools and colleges), Paul Warner, (Director of Policy and Strategy Association of Employment and Learning Providers (AELP)), Dr Floyd Millen, (Head of Operations for the Careers and Enterprise Company) and Jan Ellis, (Chief Executive, CDI) then addressed the crowd to talk about what can be done to improve quality in CEIAG design and delivery. All the speakers took part in a panel discussion to address questions from the audience, giving delegates an opportunity to have their say.
In the afternoon, all delegates took part in two engaging workshops, choosing from sessions on LMI, Gatsby Benchmarking, Careers, Employability and Enterprise and Measuring Impact.
Feedback from the event was positive with delegates saying “The speakers at the start of the day were excellent - very insightful” - Meadowcroft Special Educational Needs School, Wakefield and “The interactive workshops meant I gained some useful practical ideas to take back” - All Saints Roman Catholic School, York.
