The Canteen is runner up at Bradford Means Business Awards 2018
05 July, 2018
We were proud to be shortlisted in the Job Creator of the Year category at the Telepgraph & Argos' Bradford Means Business Awards 2018 last night.
The Canteen, situated on Cheapside, Bradford, opened in October 2017, with its accompanying Cookery school opening next door in January 2018. It is the latest community venture for aspire-igen, based at The Opportunity Centre next door to The Canteen.
The Canteen and Cookery School was started as an initiative to support young people into the hospitality industry with its exciting job opportunities and to help to address the growing skills gap in this sector. Learners on the Hospitality & Catering course develop the skills they need to progress in the industry in The Cookery School, before putting the skills into practice preparing food and serving customers in The Canteen.
Although not a winner this time, we were pleased to be runner up in recognition of our work to help young people get established in the hospitality sector.
