Aspire-igen hosts the Social Enterprise Yorkshire & Humber awards and is shortlisted for Social Impact award
01 February, 2019
On 31st January, the Events Space at our Bradford Opportunity Centre hosted the annual Social Enterprises Yorkshire and Humber (SEYH) awards.
After months of planning, Joe Grant, Catering and Hospitality Manager, and his team of students were ready to welcome 100 guests to aspire-igen. During the evening, the team provided awards nominees and sponsors with a VIP lounge. Meanwhile, the Robertshaw room was transformed into a cash bar where attendees were served drinks and enjoyed the opportunity to network.
Following the drink reception, all delegates were invited into the beautifully dressed Chamber Hall to take to their seats. After introductions a two course banquet was served by the whole team. The food was prepared and cooked by all the students on the catering and hospitality course supported by James Brett, Cafe Assistant.
As well as hosting the event, aspire-igen was nominated for a Social Impact award for the work we've done to support young people and adults with work and training. We narrowly missed out to the well deserving FareShare Yorkshire who support over 183 charities and community groups across Yorkshire by fighting hunger and tackling food waste.
Joe Grant commented on the evening: “The experience the learners have had from planning, preparing and working on the evening has been absolutely priceless. The learners themselves have been on a high since. I am very proud of each and every one of them.”
