Another fantastic year for the Scarborough Job Fair
18 March, 2019
Scarborough's eighth annual job fair, organised by aspire-igen, in conjunction with Scarborough JobCentre Plus, was the biggest and most successful yet.
Aspire-igen's CEO Caroline Harrison introduced Peter Dodd, Commercial Director of Welcome to Yorkshire, who formally opened the event with a speech to over 110 representatives from 43 different employers. He said: "We're in the inspiration business and if you can inspire someone, if you can give someone a job, you can change someone's life".
The event at the Grand Hotel hosted employers with hundreds of jobs on offer and welcomed nearly 900 people through the doors.
Positive feedback from the exhibitors and customers has been overwhelming and we are already seeing job offers and successes from the day.
Employers from a range of sectors took advantage of the opportunity to meet potential employees face to face. A recruitment manager from Scarborough JobCentre Plus said "Events like these can be a stepping stone for so many people to explore work, training or education".
Jane Elsworth-Barker, Employment and Skills Manager (York & North Yorkshire) said:
"Another fantastic year for the Scarborough Job Fair. It is great to be able to support the local community to achieve their ambitions by providing them with motivation and support in this way and we look forward to doing it again next year.
Thank you to everyone who supported the event, particularly our partners at Scarborough JobCentre Plus and the Britannia Grand Hotel".
